Legendary pop culture and music icon, Grace Jones will make her highly anticipated return to Australian shores in February 2018. Presented by The Operatives, the critically-acclaimed American musician, model and actress will appear live in concert at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, for a very special, one-night-only Melbourne affair on Monday, February 26.
Though it was only a few years ago that the distribution of music was controlled by only the biggest and most well-known labels, the inspiring hustle of the individuals behind independent record label, Soulection, has quickly become a notable platform and global community of artists, creatives and tastemakers alike. Keeping quality music as their consistent staple ingredient, the LA-based collective now boasts a roster of international artists and producers, a streetwear label, a radio show on Apple‘s Beats 1 station and countless sold out tours and appearances around the globe.
This past weekend, they continued on that journey and brought ‘The Sound of Tomorrow’ to Sydney. Check out our review now.
Music collective Soulection are heading back down under for another exclusive run of shows! Teaming up with The Operatives and Astral People, ‘The Sound of Tomorow’ will feature a star-studded line-up performing over four days in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth over the first weekend in March.
This year’s bill boasts international acts SOSUPERSAM, Jarreau Vandal and LAKIM, supported by a smattering of local producers.
Our favourite creative collective SOULECTION are bringing three of their artists/producers back down under next month to play a few shows.
The tour, presented by The Operatives and BBE, will see Joe Kay, The Whooligan and ESTA hit our shores. Make sure you don’t sleep on this one. Click on the pic for all the details.
“I try to give very little focus on me being a female producer—it’s what I am, but that fact is irrelevant to my craft. That being said, I am very strongly opposed to people treating female musicians (or female whatever) unfairly because of their gender, but let’s keep the playing ground equal.” – TOKiMONSTA
TOKiMONSTA is kicking off her Australian/NZ tour this week and The 5 to 9 Life was lucky enough to grab some time to chop it up with the LA DJ/producer. Check out what she had to say.

LA producer TOKiMONSTA has announced a run of Australian and New Zealand tour dates following recent sets at Coachella and SXSW.
Born in South Bay (California) and of Korean origin, TOKiMONSTA creates sparkling beats with breathtaking ease, and if you like the sound of that, then you’re gonna wanna catch her live in June.
Melbourne’s electronic community has come together once again for a special one-off event with the fifth Remedy fundraising event taking place THIS SUNDAY.
A stone’s throw between venues, the event will see a host of Melbourne’s finest DJs and producers performing through the night to help raise funds for the Nepal Earthquake(s) that occurred late last month.
