Red Bull Music Academy’s ‘Transliminal’ is an industrial-scale, transcendental warehouse rave held at Hobart City Hall next month. Four events held over two weekends include immersive & disorientating light installations designed by Robin Fox, as well as sets from pioneers DJ Harvey, Juliana Huxtable, Legowelt & more.
The 5 to 9 Life teamed up with one of the artists on the bill – Melbourne’s own Chiara Kickdrum – for an exclusive playlist which you can listen to right here, right now. 🙂
Last Tuesday evening, we knew we were in for a special treat when we found out Louis Baker was in town.
Charming, polite and all-round-nice guy, Baker performed a relaxed solo set which allowed for his soulful tones to really shine.
Playing at the intimate venue of Lazybones Lounge, Louis Baker allowed us into his world. Won’t you come along with us?
Louis Baker is one of those artists who continuously fly under the radar – even if he is a Red Bull Music Academy alumni – which is okay. I like that he is still unknown to some.
And for those who are yet to discover him, they can be introduced to him in the right way at one of his upcoming live shows across Australia and New Zealand.
Check out the dates and check out a new version of one of his latest releases by clicking on the link.
Two of my favourite producers from the Soulection roster – Ta-ku and Atu – have teamed up once again on ‘Long Time No See’, a track featured on Ta-ku’s much-anticipated new EP, Songs To Make Up To.
Hit the link to listen to the dreamy track which provides a good indication of what the rest of the record might sound like.
Songs To Make Up To drops worldwide on June 12.
Late last year, Melbourne musician and producer Dizz1 signed to UK label Tru Thoughts and soon after, saw the release of his latest release, the Everyday Grind EP, which features the likes of Aloe Blacc, Om’Mas Keith and Warrior Queen.
Following on from years of performing alongside some of the world’s biggest names, playing at Sonar festival and attending the Red Bull Music Academy, Dizz1 is back in Australia working on some new music with new artists, and we had a chance to shoot him some questions to talk all about it.
Sometime last year, the annual Red Bull Music Academy took over New York City for a month-long run of rare performances, informative lectures, and groundbreaking concerts held throughout the city’s five boroughs.
During that month, Red Bull teamed up with esteemed director Raf Schmerberg, who shot and documented the series of shows and lectures in an effort to piece together a full-length film simply about making music.
Check out the teaser for a feature-length RBMA film, set to be released in February.
