Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds is a new platform that supports some of Australia’s brightest new music talent, in a uniquely Swedish way. There’s arguably nothing more synonymous with Sweden than a sauna, and Rekorderlig Sauna Sounds are all about celebrating and amplifying Aussie music stars on the rise – Swedish style – and kicking off the series is Sydney’s own B Wise.
Red Bull Music today reveals it will return to Sydney and Melbourne at the end of the month for a three-day celebration of musical collaboration and genre-pushing sounds. Starring spiritual jazz guru Lonnie Liston Smith, on his first-ever Australian visit, and a hometown performance from Sydney’s hip-hop hero, Manu Crook$, Red Bull Music’s August offering is set to impress. M.I.A. has dropped the first official trailer for her long-awaited documentary MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A.. Directed by Stephen Loveridge and scored by Paul Hicks and Dhani Harrison, the intimate look at the British-Sri Lankan musician’s life and career first premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. All nine members will play the acclaimed ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’ album in full for the first time at the Sydney Opera House this December.
