Arguably the biggest innovator in hip-hop New Zealand has seen in two decades, David Dallas has sold out shows across New Zealand, Australia and the United States, released three chart topping albums,; and now after an 18-month hiatus, he is finally make with something new.

When I first noticed the artwork for this single, it was on David Dallas’ instagram page, and forgive me, but I thought it was an announcement for a show. Excuse for ignorance for not knowing that it was actually a teaser for the release of his new single.

Some might think that a collaboration between these two artists is a bit unconventional. But this is not the first time David Dallas and Freddie Gibbs have teamed up together.
Think gangsta and gleam. Poise and polish. Two unlikely characteristics that somehow work together.
The Kiwi might not be a household name in Australia yet, but if Dallas delivers more songs like ‘My Mentality’, he might well be on his way of becoming one.
Last week, I was invited to attend and review David Dallas’ live performance at the Civic Underground. This night was different from his last couple of performances though because instead of a DJ behind him, he also had his full band, The Daylight Robbery, on stage with him all night.
