Now in it’s sixth year, VIVID – Sydney’s annual light festival – needed to step it up for 2014.
Although there’s nothing wrong with taking the time to paint our already gorgeous city in colour, we wanted to see more than a flood of fluorescent selfies on Instagram.
Read on to see some of the ways VIVID offered us more than just a visual feast this year.

Nike are continuously re-inventing their apparel and through their latest innovative ways, their new Tech Pack featuring the Tech Hyperfuse is a new expression of style and definitely ticking all of the boxes.
The Nike Tech Pack Hyperfuse Collection consists of a poncho, windrunner, and zip-up vest, and they all provide you with three key components: lightweight, breathability and durability.
So when I’ve reviewed CARBON in the past, I’ve often broken each day and/or night into a separate post.
But this year I’m going to try and flip the switch a little bit.
That is, skip the overload of words (as hard as it as a lover of words) and try and break it down into a review that will engage you and disappoint you that you didn’t attend, but also leave you wanting to purchase an early-bird ticket for next year’s event.
Pretty pictures and videos included.
For Spring/Summer 2014, Nike and Liberty London have once again collaborated to create an on-trend collection for Summer (not ours, theirs).
The sportswear giant commissioned the English print experts to outfit four silhouettes – the Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Nike Roshe Run, Internationalist, Blazer High and Dunk Sky High.
The motif itself calls upon prints like the blossom and bell flowers-decorated ‘Anoosha’ and the paisley-blocked ‘Crown’ prints from Liberty’s canon.
A few weeks ago, The 5 to 9 Life was invited to preview the new Winter 2014 collection for Converse.
Luckily for me, I already had a scheduled day off from the office because the event was held in the middle of the day with a catered lunch and fun activities to join in on.
Read on to see what went down.
Are you a fan of interactive videos?
British band Placebo have released some interactive visuals for their new song, ‘Too Many Friends’, which comes from their upcoming album ‘Loud Like Love’.
Set in a not-so-distant-future version of Los Angeles, the video revolves around a 3.12 second scene in which a woman smashes a Champagne bottle over a man’s head. However, much like a Murder Mystery game, (which in this case has been given the title ‘Unfortunate Events’) all is not quite as it seems. Narrator Bret Easton Ellis takes us back through the scene in slow-motion, pointing out various other elements which could have lead to the attack.
What do you think happened?
Loud Like Love is Placebo’s 7th studio album and is due to be released on 16 September, 2013.
Comeback queen Catherine McNeil is in Australia at the moment, and was in town on Tuesday night to unveil KOOKAÏ Australia’s new Spring/Summer 2013/2014 campaign at a runway show held in the Locomotive Workshop at the Australian Technology Park.
The new collection takes inspiration from Mexico and the prints and colours are clearly influenced through all the pieces that walked down the runway.
