‘It is impossible… to explore and discover anything worth a damn without giving yourself permission to scramble and stumble and be ugly.’

Late last year, Melbourne musician and producer Dizz1 signed to UK label Tru Thoughts and soon after, saw the release of his latest release, the Everyday Grind EP, which features the likes of Aloe Blacc, Om’Mas Keith and Warrior Queen.

An Interview with Amanda S.

by

I’ve been a fan of Singapore label FALSE for some time now. Back when Lupe Fiasco rapped about the creators – Amanda and Le Messie – in his song ‘Paris, Tokyo’. Seriously.

But then it seemed that things got two crazy for the duo, and they sort of disappeared…

About a year or so ago, Amanda and Le Messie decided to bring the FALSE label back into the spotlight (with the introduction of various other labels they had kept hidden away).

But nonetheless, after all that time, with such a strong following to their name, it did not deter us from keeping an interest in the brand and sharing our interest.

Now it’s time for me to share that interest with you. Hit the jump to find out more about Amanda, one of the co-founders and creators behind FALSE.

An Interview with Dpat

by

They say that the way you spend your New Year’s Eve, is how you’ll spend the rest of the new year. Something like that.

If that’s the case and it’s a true reflection of what to expect in 2014, then I’m content with things turning out the way they will be in the new year.

It’s New Year’s Eve with still a few hours to go until the final countdown of 2013, but I’m here in my new home of Melbourne sitting at my laptop doing what I love to do: write.

And if that’s the way 2014 is going to be, then all I can say is ‘Bring. It. On.’

Until that time comes, check out the last interview of the year with Grammy-nominated Houston producer, Dpat.

An Interview with IAMNOBODI

by

Nothing beats some good, chilled out music to immerse yourself in after a crazy day. And believe me, I’ve been experiencing that pretty much on a daily basis lately.

Although his base work is rooted in hip hop, you’ll hear many other sounds and styles blended into the work of IAMNOBODI.

Each time I listen to his work – in particular, his debut record ‘Elevated’ – I am able to drown out the noise and distractions of the world around me, focusing on what really matters in that moment – the music.

IAMNOBODI is also the latest individual I’ve managed to gain some insight from. And within that insight, he’s left me feeling rather inspired.

An Interview with S H A R N E E

by

You might not know who S H A R N E E is or have heard of the name – but you will.

Spotted at this year’s Fashion Palette, the label’s Spring/Summer collection that walked the runway this year was a collection that instantly stood out against the rest of the pack.

Mixing both elements of femininity and androgyny into each design, S H A R N E E is one label to watch in the near future.
