We Can’t Stop Watching Missy Elliot’s Video Vanguard Performance at the 2019 Video Music Awards!

After literal decades of anticipation, Missy Elliot was finally honored with the VMA Video Vanguard Award for her “culture-shifting visionary” visuals at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards — and she took the VMA stage in style for the occasion after a jaw-dropping performance featuring some of her greatest hits. Misdemeanor's in the house!

Unless you have Foxtel, then there’s no way you could have watched this year’s “2019 MTV Video Music Awards” unless you streamed all the performances like we did online and there is no question that no-one bad the crowd dancing more than Missy Elliott‘s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard medley – including the star-studded VIP section – for the whole performance.

Before launching into a brief set that ran through some of her most beloved songs, Elliott began with one of her new tracks with a most fitting title: sporting platinum braids and a metallic suit to match, she was joined by a crew of dancers in a house of mirrors for Throw It Back‘ off her new release, “Iconology.”

She proceeded to do just that, and when she was spotted onstage in her iconic trash bag suit for ‘Supa Dupa Fly,’ the audience completely lost it and only cheered louder as the hits kept coming. ‘Get Ur Freak On’ followed, with dancers busting killer moves (and some doing so while pulling some seriously impressive aerial stunts); ‘Work It’ came next, and Alyson Stoner, the dancer who was a pint-sized break-dancing champ in the video back in 2002, came out to flex on her routine, which is just as badass now as it was 17 years ago:

‘Pass That Dutch’ was another crowdpleaser, but ‘Lose Control’ is what gave the viewers at home the most unapologetically intense dance party of the night as the camera cut to Halsey, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Bebe Rexha, Taylor Swift, Lizzo and more losing their minds to the 2005 hit.

Yass Queen!
