Sydney Duo Yuma X Are ‘Chasing Patterns’

Yuma X released their new single, 'Chasing Patterns' this week, a song charting the joys and torment of a complicated, co-dependent and addictive relationship. We hope this single release means there's more to come from the Sydney duo. Listen to it NOW.

Crafting arresting, immersive electronic pop that leaves its mark, Sydney’s YUMA X today share their brand new single ‘Chasing Patterns’, a song that has been a long time coming for the pair.

‘Chasing Patterns’charts the joys and torment of a complicated, co-dependent and addictive relationship. Buttressed by propulsive, atmospheric beats and vocalist Lucy Washington’s magnetic vocals, the song teases out a relationship’s positives and negatives, highs and lows.

Lucy and (long-time friend/collaborator/producer of Yuma X) Jake Smith met in 2009 and started working on music together soon after, combining Washington’s powerful singing chops and Jake’s dexterous and comprehensive composition skills.

In 2015, they had their breakout single, a cover of Ghoul’s ‘Swimming Pool’ which received millions of streams online – and is still one of our favourites to date.

‘Chasing Patterns’ is only the first taste of a bigger series of long-awaited releases from one of the most thrilling and unique voices in Australian electronica.
