I’m sure you can imagine how much new music comes into our inbox on the daily so it’s very easy to miss the music of an artist that you’re not that familiar with.
Case in point: Turquoise Prince.
I received an email about the Canberra artist last week but because I wasn’t familiar with the name, I didn’t open up the email right away.
Having found some time to go through my emails, I finally gave his new single ‘Some Nights’ a listen and it’s an upbeat single we just had to share.
Premiering on Triple J’s Home & Hosed program, ‘Some Nights’ offers something a little different to what we’re used to, but at the same time makes us feel as though we can totally relate to the situation he’s rapping about.
The dreamy yet club-ready garage beat provides a canvas for Turquoise to lay himself bare with musings on lost love. “It’s a song that’s close to my heart, I wrote it when I was in a sad place, everyone’s been there.” Introspective and vulnerable, this is a side of Turquoise that is always there, often hidden behind a tough exterior, but never forgotten.
