Watch H.E.R.’s Incredible NPR Tiny Desk Concert!

H.E.R. is no longer a secret. Two years ago she was literally hiding behind the shadowy silhouette on her debut EP, "H.E.R." and now the singer is nominated for five Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. Earlier this month, NPR shared an 18-minute Tiny Desk concert with the singer, where we see her show off her skills as a musician too as she trades in an electric guitar for an acoustic one, then ditches the acoustic for a keyboard. This is a MUST WATCH.

After joining Daniel Caesar during his Tiny Desk concert earlier in 2018, H.E.R. returned o the NPR office (armed with five Grammy nominations) earlier this month for the latest instalment of the highly successful series. The four-part medley featured cuts from both parts of her acclaimed “I Used to Know Her” EP.

The 21-year-old showed off her talents as a multi-instrumentalist, switching between the guitar and piano while maintaining a luscious singing voice throughout. Backed by a smooth band and additional vocalists, H.E.R.‘s near 20-minute set included ‘Going,’ ‘Feel A Way,’ ‘Hard Place,’ and concluded with our favourite, ‘Focus.’

The Bay Area native is a big fan of the series, and even feels that the intimate setting creates the optimal performance experience for viewers. “I’m so excited to be here. This is like a dream come true for me,” she admitted. “I feel like Tiny Desk is the best way to experience your favourite artists, not that I’m your favourite artist, but maybe me being here says a lot.”
