We’re Obsessed with Hansen & Gretel’s Resort 2019 Collection ‘Eve’

HANSEN & GRETEL was one of the most highly anticipated shows of the week — and it definitely delivered with its Resort 2019 collection at this year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia! We loved the entire collection - every design except for one print. Which one? Click on to find out our thoughts! Featured photo by Khiera Nicole.

Australian label, Hansen & Gretel,  is a brand that has won over the hearts of Australian women over the years for its classic, yet uniquely elegant style. This year, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, the brand’s collection was a highly visual narrative that thematically showed the natural progression of women and the celebration of the journey of womanhood.

Aptly titled ‘Eve,’  [the collection is] ethereal, polished and playfully chic; it embodies the beauty you wish to be and all the personalities in between. I was drawn to the idea of focusing on a woman’s inner strength as opposed to her reflection. (Our industry can be seen to offer a woman her choice of ‘true identity’ through their solution of armour.) The Garden of Eve introduces ideas of abundance, allure, and the new love generation, entwined in original sin. The collection is a labyrinth designed to engage you in a journey to your inner self, your ‘Eve.’

Hansen & Gretel‘s Resort 2019 collection spanned everyday wear, fancier outfits and swimwear, keeping with that Resort theme. Inspired by Eve and the evolution of women, the runway was lined with flora and the hair and make-up brief was simple and effortless.

The prints — snakeskin, tropical fruit and candy-pink checks — were fun and would be perfect for your next outing beachside, but could also be paired back for a day out in the city. The shapes and cuts were fluid and took form in metallic dresses of shimmer and sparkle, tiered ruffled dresses, denim button-down two pieces and white bohemian dresses.

The collection was immaculate and definitely one that we would want to add to our wardrobes, except for one striped print of blue and red that seemed out of place with all the other prints/designs in the collection.
