It was an unexpected surprise to come into the Pereira Fitzgerald runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and have things kicked off with a beautiful violinist before the models came out wearing the label’s Resort 2019 collection.
Pereira Fitzgerald‘s Resort 2019 collection took the minimalism path, showing understated designs that flattered in all the right places. Founded by Bella Pereira and Gemma Fitzgerald in 2015, the Sydney-based brand mixed flared silhouettes with strong tailoring to juxtapose sensuality and strength.
Women generally see power dressing as embodying masculine characteristics through clothes like suits and blazers, but Pereira Fitzgerald‘s collection turns this concept on its head, embracing the woman’s femininity and finding confidence and power within that.
Their clothes were quite luxurious yet made for everyday wear so the hair and make-up also matched to be effortless and understated to allow the clothes and femininity to shine through.
Although perhaps not intentional, we felt that some of their designs were very French-Vietnamese inspired with the long dress over the pant look, reminiscent of Vietnam’s traditional dress of the áo dài, as captured below.
Their debut show at MBFWA this year was a clear statement that this a label not only to watch but to wear, now.
