Have you noticed how 2018 has been all about putting women at the forefront of everything? (And rightfully so, in our opinion.)

Australian designer Bianca Spencer has taken this notion and incorporated it into her 2019 Resort collection, ‘Unbiased’.
How so?

“A hundred years ago, women used their dress as a political statement, abandoning the corset and introducing pants to prove their equality,” the show’s notes begin. It’s the age-old idea that, in order to be equal, women must mimic men’s dress.

That being said, Bianca Spender‘s collection this year at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia was fearless and feminine.

The collection featured Spender’s trademark cuts and draping, however, at the heart of the offering was an ode to a woman’s complexity – reflecting the notion that women can be both powerful and playful.

Tailored suits and shirting were intensified with bold pops of colour, while statement jumpsuits added a fun and dynamic edge.

Mixing structure with fluidity, her Resort 2019 ‘Unbiased’ collection saw looks that were both sophisticated yet spirited, as an overall result.

“Here is my unbiased view… As clothing wraps, pulls and floats around the body, femininity is concealed and revealed. Liberation. At once sharp and structured, fluid and flowing, a quiet reinvention is taking place.” – Bianca Spender.
