The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Will Present Studio Ghibli in Concert

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has just announced a very special string of performances plucked from the legendary Studio Ghibli‘s greatest and most iconic film scores. Click on the photo above for all the details. You won't want to miss this one.

Music from Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki‘s beloved Japanese animated films will soon be performed live by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) at Hamer Hall.

The MSO will be performing the ephemeral scores by composer Joe Hisaishi, with Hisaishi himself conducting the orchestra as footage plays on a cinema screen overhead.

Expect montages and scenes from Ghibli favourites including ‘Howl’s Moving Castle,’ ‘My Neighbour Totoro,’ ‘Princess Mononoke,’ the seminal ‘Spirited Away’ and more.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is the first orchestra in the world that has been selected to perform Ghibli in concert, outside of Japan.
