Maggie Rogers Leaves Us Wanting More with Her Parting Gift ‘Split Stones’

Maggie Rogers has been on a whirlwind trip around the world promoting her EP and so it's no surprise to hear that she's decided to take a break from touring for the moment, as she announced via a handwritten note on Instagram yesterday. And as a parting gift, she has shared the visuals to a song that she often performed during her live shows, 'Split Stones'. Check it out now.

Yesterday, singer/songwriter Maggie Rogers shared a handwritten letter on Instagram and released her new song ‘Split Stones,’ a song she referred to in the letter as a “parting gift.”

In the letter, the singer thanks her fans for the past year where she “danced harder” and “sang louder” as she toured the world following the release of her “Now That The Light Is Fading” EP.

The singer shot to fame after getting a co-sign by Pharrell at an NYU Masterclass for her song ‘Alaska.’

“My EP told you everything I felt during my last semester of college,” Rogers wrote. “It’s time for me to tell you the story of everything that’s happened since.”

Her new song ‘Split Stones’ might be her last for a while, but it’s a good one. The dance-y, pop song takes samples from outdoor excursions and is inspired by nature in the same way ‘Alaska’ was. Rogers says she wrote the song in college and we remember hearing it live during her Sydney tour, so it’s rather fitting that she shares the track before moving on to a new chapter in her life.

“‘Split Stones’ is a parting gift,” she wrote. “This is me saying goodbye for a little while. Here’s to the end of the beginning and the start of everything else.” <3

Oh, also.. is it just us or does the intro remind you of the beginning of Ta-ku’s I Miss You? We couldn’t help but pull it up and compare the two. What do you think? Are we going crazy? 😛
