Did you catch that? Yes, there — just at the 2:18 mark — is the one and only Drew Barrymore, in the music video for SZA’s hit single ‘Drew Barrymore.’
After releasing her full-length debut studio album, “Ctrl” just weeks ago to critical acclaim, SZA has been quickly rising through the ranks and proving herself among the top singers we have in the industry right now.
In the Dave Meyers–directed visual, SZA and her friends run around New York City, eventually settling in at a house party. “Warm enough for ya outside baby, yeah / Is it warm enough for ya inside me, me, me, me?” she sings. When SZA pops outside for a smoke break, she spots Drew.
The concept is simple, but the production is gorgeous, atmospheric, and slyly funny.
SZA’s debut full-length “Ctrl” is out now.
Watch it, listen to it, enjoy it.
I get so lonely, I forget what I’m worth
We get so lonely, we pretend that this works
I’m so ashamed of myself think I need therapy-y-y-y
I’m sorry I’m not more attractive
I’m sorry I’m not more ladylike
I’m sorry I don’t shave my legs at night
I’m sorry I’m not your baby mama
I’m sorry you got karma comin’ to you
Collect and soak in it right
