Designer Amber D’Enett made her debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia with Vale Denim‘s Resort 2018 ‘Sail Away’ collection this year taking us on a nautical journey with yachting references continuously showing up in the casual collection.

Different denim washes from soft to dark was featured in ready-to-wear shorts, jackets, jumpsuits and dresses while pops of bright red and yellow added a playful variation to the Resort range.

Choosing a nautical theme for their debut could only take the collection so far. Stripes, compass motifs, rope tie details, patchwork and traditional marine colours of navy, indigo and white were all present but it didn’t exactly push the boundaries nor was it inspiring.

Yes, the lightweight cotton and linen tees and shirts will be easy to wear and perfect for the warm weather, but they’re not exactly investment or staple pieces.

The collection was cool and classic, but overall it was a little boring.
