Watch The New Trailer For Ghibli Alumni’s ‘Mary And The Witch’s Flower’

Studio Ghibli may now be a thing of the past but that doesn't mean its former animators are going to stop making magical movies. Enter: 'Mary and the Witch's Flower', a brand new feature film from Studio Ghibli alumni Hiromasa Yonebayashi and Yoshiaki Nishimura.

The former lead producer of Studio Ghibli, Yoshiaki Nishimura, has started his own company with a few old animator friends from Ghibli.

Called Studio Ponoc, the crew are set to release their first feature film this year, titled “Mary and the Witch’s Flower”.

Like most great Studio Ghibli films, the movie stars a badass female protagonist on a journey of self-discovery. Based on Mary Stewart’s ‘The Little Broomstick’, the film follows the story of a little girl (Mary) who discovers she’s equipped with the power to become a witch for one night only.

The animation is obviously beautiful and full of windy movement, just as you’d expect from Ghibli alumni.

Watch the official magical trailer above and expect the film to be released later this year.
