Prolific beatmakers and genre-defying tastemakers, the Soulection crew have made a name for themselves thanks to their forward thinking production, eclectic mixes and being constantly ahead of the pack. They’re the ones who do it first, so it’s no wonder at all that they’ve become one of the biggest musical crews in the world, and are finally starting to see the benefits of being on that level.
This week, it’s been announced that some of the crew will be bringing another tour back down under next month to let us discover “The Sound of Tomorrow”!
The Operatives are proud to present the next generation of LA-based music collective – and Beats1 primetime show – Soulection across Australia this March. The ever-growing collective is very much their own movement – teaming warm, timeless soul and sounds that are unmistakably contemporary. Soulection’s international producers might be found working on anything from a Drunk in Love remix to an original deep jazz jam and the shows, under the banner ‘The Sound of Tomorrow’, are world-renowned for having one of the most energetic, passionate and all-inclusive music experiences out there. The two collectives are this year teaming up with local tastemakers Astral People to host Soulection under the iconic Harbour Bridge in the stunning surrounds of the Sydney waterfront, at Pier One.
Following on from last year’s SELL OUT Australian tour, Soulection has lined up their finest for the crew’s much-anticipated return. Featuring the galactic and undeniably throw-back funky jams of Netherlands based Jarraeu Vandal, whose production toes the lines between hip-hop, R’n’B, dance and leftfield experimental electronics. LA native SOSUPERSAM commands the dance floor whether it’s in spotlight opening for Little Dragon and Erykah Badu, or in the nightclubs of Low End Theory. Seamlessly bridging underground sounds with rap, classic hip hop and future bass, she has created a unique lane for herself as a performer, personality, and style ambassador. As well as this twenty-something’s collaborations with the likes of Sango and Mr. Carmack, on top of his own acclaimed originals LAKIM‘s, smooth reflips bring out the chillwave side of everyone from Janet Jackson to Banks to Rick James.
All established artists in their own right, their unique blends of trap, R&B and hip-hop styled beats mixed with a touch of light electronica and vinyl buzz, any one of them would have had us excited to see, but three? It’s almost too much!
