Woodes Shares New Visuals For Her Single ‘Rise’

Up-and-coming Australian singer Woodes is synonymous with heavenly vocals and precise production. ‘Rise’ is a women’s soulful journey in which she gathers her strength and ascends. Woodes’ poetic and honest lyrics mixed with production from Simon Lam has gifted us with a stellar track set to keep her ahead of the game. Last week, she has released a new video to back up this gorgeous song. Check it out now. Words by Krystal Beasley.

Melbourne’s own Woodes, the moniker for Elle Graham, is fresh off of an Australian tour supporting Ngaiire.

I had the opportunity to see her perform live during the ‘Inside Blastoma’ tour and while on stage she spoke about how her father was a park ranger and whilst growing up her family would often spend time outdoors in the parks.

This is an aspect that definitely comes through in her lyrics and music videos and ‘Rise’ is no different. The video was shot on location in the Blue Mountains (NSW) and sees Woodes including natural elements such as water, earth, and fire. The song tells a story with a beginning, middle and end about a woman who rises from the water.

‘Rise’ is the first of six tracks from her debut, self-titled EP and especially highlights Woodes‘ light and ethereal vocals as they float over a mellow and mesmerising beat. Add backing vocals coming from some popular names such as Alex Lahey, LANKS, and Golden Vessel, plus Woodes‘ strong songwriting abilities and you’ve got another hit. From start to finish, ‘Rise’ truly is a beautifully crafted song with a visually lush video to go along.
