One of my earliest memories of TLC was watching this performance of the three ladies at the MTV VMA’s in 1995. Yep, 1995! And the VHS quality of this youtube video pretty much brings about all the nostalgia #feels for this girl right here.
Nonetheless, the performance came almost a year after the successful release of their album “CrazySexyCool” – which I believe I still have the CD copy of!
Featuring iconic jams like ‘Waterfalls’, ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’ (penned by the late icon Prince) and ‘Creep’, it’s no surprise the album has become an R&B classic.
Despite being under 10 years of age and probably not really understanding the context of what the ladies were singing about, there was something about TLC that I absolutely loved. They were sexy, strong and empowered women.
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas will form the TLC duo for the tour. As we all know, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, the third original member of the group, was tragically killed in a car accident in 2002. Rest in Peace.
I was travelling the last time TLC announced an Australian tour so I’m pretty excited to hear that they’ve decided to return to our shores!
Their return to Australia and first ever New Zealand shows later this year are set to be spectacular. Don’t miss one of the most iconic R&B groups of our generation taking to the stage for a series of not-to-be-missed concerts this November.
