Australian fashion designer Collette Dinnigan is showing a retrospective of her career at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum.
Collette is one of Australia’s most successful fashion designers, establishing her label with a range of luxurious handmade silk lingerie.
“I was always very impatient to succeed. It used to annoy me to hear people talk about doing things, instead of just doing them. I always thought you don’t need to tell the world. Just go out and do it. If you fail, you fail, but at least you will have learnt something.”
~ Collette Dinnigan
Emerging in 1990, at the height of grunge but defying the dressed-down mood, Dinnigan‘s creations of French silk and vintage lace were the antithesis of functional, everyday underwear.
“Collette Dinnigan: Unlaced” explores Dinnigan’s 25-year career across eight key experiences: Nothing to Hide, Collette Dinnigan 25 Years, Backstage to Runway, Star Power, Obsessive Creative, Enfant, Lace and That’s Amore.
Ultimately, this is an accessible and dynamic look at one inspirational creator and her wares.
“Collette Dinnigan: Unlaced” is on now until 29 January 2017
