De La Soul have dropped the audio to ‘TrainWreck’, from their recently released EP, “For Your Pain & Suffering”. The funky, feel-good track will also be on their upcoming album, “And The Anonymous Nobody”.
The single is a funky, feel-good tune mixed with spoken word, infectious and intriguing melodies, and some fresh drum work.
‘Trainwreck’ is taken from their forthcoming LP – “And The Anonymous Nobody” – out in August, that was crowd-funded by a Kickstarter campaign in May last year – the second largest campaign in Kickstarter’s history.
De La Soul raised more than $600,000 to make their forthcoming LP. The rap group’s new label-free existence allowed them to create ambitious arrangements on the new record.
“The creation of “And The Anonymous Nobody” has been several years in the making. De La Soul wanted to make another sample-based album in the vein of “3 Feet High and Rising”. In order to do so, they spent a few years recording more than 300 hours of live music, converging everything from bossa nova, soul and hip-hop to funk, disco and reggae. They essentially created the instrumental albums from which they would dig and sample.”
