For his new album single, producer Kaytranada has enlisted none other than Anderson .Paak, who recently burst onto the hip hop scene hitting the ground running as not only one of our favorite new artists, but has almost unanimously been called one of the genre’s most promising new stars.
The ‘Glowed Up’ visual is a mix of dreams and reality, as Kaytranada wanders around his home in slow-motion at a party, and at other times, he’s alone floating with no clear intent.
The beat switches up around the 3-minute mark as the visuals brighten up and essentially turns into an entirely new relaxing, slower track with .Paak’s smooth crooning over the drum highlighted beat displaying the diverse skillset of both artists.
The video arrived a day after the unveiling of Kaytranada’s cover story with The FADER, in which he discusses his struggle in accepting his own sexuality – which by the way is a great read overall. With a new album under his belt, Kaytranada is starting a new chapter of his life and for the first time, is completely being himself – his whole self. Read it. Trust us, you’ll love it. And you might just love Kaytranada even more.
You spent your whole life out in the spotlight
With something that can pull you back to the starlight
Cause even when you’re far out there in the sun
You’re still in the hands of the one who cares for you
And this a cold game that you play on
With something that can pull you back where you came from
