Exclusive: J Dilla’s Long Lost 2002 Album Is Set for Release Next Month

J Dilla's lost vocal album, "The Diary," is on its way. J Dilla's celebrated swansong, 'Donuts', recently turned 10, but even a decade later, we're still getting posthumous releases.

Let me start off their post by saying that I didn’t even know Dilla had bars on him. All I’ve ever known about him is that he made beats and produced music – and was one of the best to have ever done it.

Now, it’s been announced that the next release from the producer and rapper is “The Diary”, a vocal album he reportedly made in 2000, but was never released.

Today we’ve received the intro to the project, which, as promised features Jay Dee laying down some verses.

Wowee.

“The Diary” features vocal performances by J Dilla, Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottzand Boogie, over production by Dilla, Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Nottz, House Shoes, Supa Dave West, Bink!and Karriem Riggins.

“The Diary” was Dilla’s attempt to take advantage of the attention afforded him after his brightest period as a behind-the-scenes hit-maker and influencer.”

“The Diary” is set for release on April 15 via PAYJAY/Mass Appeal Records.
