During her “Blood (Solo)” tour in the US, one of our favourite artists, Lianne La Havas prepared a cover for her Oakland audience at The New Parish on February 9th, 2016.
The original song, written by the legendary Burt Bacharach and performed by greats like Dionne Warwick and Aretha Franklin, was clearly a crowd favourite, as soon as she sang the first line, and we couldn’t help but smile once we hit play and heard that opening line too! 🙂
Lianne delivers soft, crystal clear vocals which intensifies as the chorus approaches and then draws back to soft and sweet on the verses.
With romantic, swirling harmonies, she teases the audience with the melody in which she’s chosen to sing the cover but never loses the integrity of the original.
It’s pretty hard not to sing along with La Havas on this one! <3 And don't blame us, if the song gets stuck in your head for the rest of your day/evening. 😛 #sorrynotsorry
