Kendrick Lamar has proven time and time again what a great songwriter, rapper and live performer he is.
All of which can be seen in his recent appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he joined Fallon for an interview (see a snippet below) and performed a powerful new song, ‘Untitled 2.’
The song weaves through a variety of topics from women to education to sadness to recent career wins. And it also goes through various moods and sounds, from a mellow-but-funky opening to a more intense finale.
On the track, Lamar examines his own rise in hip-hop along with that of his Top Dawg Entertainment associates, all leading to a high-powered, rapid-fire outro where Lamar touts, “Level two, level two / No I’m not done / You don’t have to tell me that I am the one / I could put a rapper on life support / Guarantee that’s something none of you want.”
