Episode three of Alexa Chung’s new online series looking at ‘The Future of Fashion’ touches on two important and recurring themes: body image and diversity.
Speaking to psychologist Dr Carolyn Mair from the London College of Fashion, Chung discovers what positive influence the field of psychology can have on the fashion industry – and how closely the two are linked in their understanding of human behaviour.
Within the discussion, Chung muses on the way the media directly represents fashion, as well as discussing her own figure and looks. She finds that with the power of young and positive-minded new designers, using creative self-promotion and the digital reach that is available to them, fashion can and should improve body image and contribute to the representation of a vastly diverse world.
