Marvel Comics Reimagines Hip-Hop Album Covers

Of all things to happen, I didn't think this collaboration would come about, but it has. Marvel Comics has paid tribute to classic hip-hop in amazing new variant covers and plans to create plenty more, with 50 creations in the pipeline. Marvel Comics has shared a new series of variant covers inspired by contemporary and classic hip-hop album artwork.

It features tributes to albums by artists such as Tyler, the Creator, Wu-Tang Clan, Notorious B.I.G, A$AP Rocky, Lauryn Hill, Dr. Dre, De La Soul, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Eric B. & Rakim, 50 Cent and A Tribe Called Quest.

This is just a handful of the first batch though – more than 50 covers are planned to be created.

Intriguing.

Can you guess the original artists?

Take a look at the album covers and check out what Marvel’s editor-in-chief Axel Alonso had to say about the project below.

“For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue. Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces.”
