Lauryn Hill Is ‘Feeling Good’

To accompany the release of Netflix's upcoming Nina Simone documentary, "What Happened, Miss Simone?", a number of musicians have recorded covers of some of the jazz, blues and gospel icon's most memorable songs. The compilation 'Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone', which is due out on July 10th, features songs by Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Common, Alice Smith and Simone's daughter Lisa, among others. Ms Lauryn Hill gives us a taste of her cover of the classic 'Feeling Good'.

SOULFEST‘s co-headliner Ms Lauryn Hill has been working on a special project reworking classic Nina Simone songs – whether it be covering them or rapping over them.

In this case, she’s covered the all-inspiring ‘Feeling Good’.

Many have done it before and the only other cover I’ve heard and absolutely loved is from English rockers Muse.

Ms Hill has delivered a sultry rendition of Simone’s 1965 bluesy vocal showstopper.

Very few have ever come close to the impact of Simone’s stunning voice and the powerful emotion she infused with every note, BUT I think Ms Hill has thrown her hat in the ring as top contender.

So the question has to be asked, Are you ‘Feeling Good’ about Lauryn Hill‘s cover?
