MBFWA: IXIAH Stole The Show This Year

Founded in 2011, Sydney label IXIAH was founded by young designer Krystel Davis. IXIAH's distinctive design is known for their clever twist on classic and on-trend tailoring, with intricate detailing and unique design. And these theories were put into practice on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia this year.

I have to admit, I didn’t know some of the designers on the bill for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this year, and IXIAH [pronounced ex-sigh-ah] was one of them, but boy, did she exceed my expectations!

We saw a collection consisting mainly of white pieces (which happened to be the overall trend amongst most of the designers at Australian Fashion Week this year), but the subtle pops of colour and metallics definitely caught my attention.

The SS 15/16 collection featured bold Aztec prints, heavily beaded detailing and pretty tie-dye fabrics as the stunning models proudly unveiled the new pieces at Sydney’s Carriageworks.

Each look was effortless, yet sophisticated.

A really strong showing in my opinion from the up-and-coming Sydney designer, and I’m excited to see what this young designer has in store for us in the future.
