This review has been a long time coming and whilst originally I planned to review Jay Prince‘s entire record, “BeFor Our Time”, there was one particular song that I kept going back to every single time I had a chance to listen tot it and that’s the song I wanted to share with you.
As much as I love his previous releases ‘All You‘ and ‘Polaroids‘, the message within ‘The Trip (featuring Fabienne)’ really hit home.
With production by IAMNOBODI, I had a strong feeling that the song would be straight up fire.
But that hook.. that hook is what I was really drawn to. Honestly, that hook is E V E R Y T H I N G.
First off, I love the lyrics and on top of that, I love Fabienne‘s vocals!
“I ain’t the same these days, you ain’t wrong
After the TRIP
I know the world keeps turning
Oh lord I pray I never stop learning
See I took off my shoes and started running in the rain
Found some beauty in that pain
No I wouldn’t change a thang
When the world keeps turning
Oh lord I pray I never stop learning
I just wanted to trip”.
The song really represents the way I feel about life. My life right now and life in general.
‘The Trip’ to Jay Prince and Fabienne may represent something completely different but the way I felt after a certain trip is represented within the lyrics of that hook.
Thank you, Jay Prince (and Fabienne) for creating this song.
