Jay Prince: The Trip (ft. Fabienne)

I have selfishly been engrossed in this record (and this particular song) lately to share the creations of Jay Prince with you, and for that I sincerely apologise. Everyone needs to know about Jay Prince. 'The Trip' is the one song that would be at the top of my list in terms of favourites and recommendations, but you should really just download his entire EP, 'BeFOR Our Time' and listen away to your heart's content. <3

This review has been a long time coming and whilst originally I planned to review Jay Prince‘s entire record, “BeFor Our Time”, there was one particular song that I kept going back to every single time I had a chance to listen tot it and that’s the song I wanted to share with you.

As much as I love his previous releases All You and Polaroids, the message within ‘The Trip (featuring Fabienne)’ really hit home.

With production by IAMNOBODI, I had a strong feeling that the song would be straight up fire.

But that hook.. that hook is what I was really drawn to. Honestly, that hook is E V E R Y T H I N G.

First off, I love the lyrics and on top of that, I love Fabienne‘s vocals!

“I ain’t the same these days, you ain’t wrong
After the TRIP
I know the world keeps turning
Oh lord I pray I never stop learning
See I took off my shoes and started running in the rain
Found some beauty in that pain
No I wouldn’t change a thang
When the world keeps turning
Oh lord I pray I never stop learning
I just wanted to trip”.

The song really represents the way I feel about life. My life right now and life in general.
‘The Trip’ to Jay Prince and Fabienne may represent something completely different but the way I felt after a certain trip is represented within the lyrics of that hook.

Thank you, Jay Prince (and Fabienne) for creating this song.
