Dior: The Making of a Couture Dress

When someone utters the words 'high-fashion' or 'haute-couture', what brands come to mind? The usual, right? I can just picture my flamoboyant workmate listing off all the brands that he covets. But have you ever wondered how one of those finely detailed dresses are made? Refinery29 and Visionarie teamed up together to bring you a short doco detailing the production of the dress from birth to runway.

I don’t usually write about high-fashion.

For me, it’s comfort over everything else basically.

But the title of this video stopped me from thinking ‘Next’. It brought about intrigue and interest.

But first let’s get one thing straight here: I don’t ever write about high-fashion. I don’t follow it. And I most definitely don’t own any of their pieces. But I can appreciate good design and the hard work that goes into making them.

So when Dior released a video showing how a couture dress was made? That peaked my interest. I love watching videos that show the end-to-end process of a product. Even if that product is a haute couture dress. I admit, I’ve watched the odd episode of Project Runway.. hehe
