Laura Welsh - The Other Side [Mix]

I’ve been a fan of Laura Welsh for a minute. Ever since her singles, ‘Hollow Drum’ and ‘Cold Front‘ came out a year or so ago, I’ve been following her sounds and musings.

Recently, she collaborated with London’s Hunger TV to create a mix that features artists that you probably would not expect to be in Miss Welsh’s repertoire.

Ignore the set list above^^. The songs are not in the correct order, but it is a list of all the songs included and it’s a list that I am most excited about. I love to see the musical influences of which inspires an artist and Laura Welsh definitely has eclectic taste!

Blending in the sounds of Radiohead, J Dilla, FlyLo, Mayer Hawthorne ft. Kendrick Lamar, Dornik, Portishead, Little Dragon and so much more; Welsh manages to create a moody mix that brings us in and out of an ethereal and dream-like state. So good! <3 What I love even more is Welsh's descriptions as to why she decided to include each track into this special mix for Hunger TV.

Check out some of favourite quotables from Ms Laura Welsh below and check out the rest here.

J DILLA – WORKINONIT: “It’s J Dilla. Nothing more to say.”

PORTISHEAD – STRANGERS: “Beth Gibbons voice has just got that raw and honest emotion. Every Portishead song I know has the capacity to grab you from the very first line.”

DORNIK – SOMETHING ABOUT YOU: “He only has a couple of songs on his sound cloud so I can’t wait to hear what he does next. Musically it just feels like he is super on it.”

ATOMS FOR PEACE – INGENUE: “Thom Yorke is so captivating. I remember the first time I watched it and it’s stayed with me ever since. The more I listen to Atoms For Peace the more I’m intrigued and want to hear more. It’s work without limitations which is incredibly powerful.”
