Tinashe is a newcomer to some (myself included) but that term might offend her. The Los-Angeles based songwriter released two mixtapes in 2012 and was also part of girl-group, The Stunners. Who? That was my thought too.
Nonetheless, it doesn’t matter when you were introduced to her music, because the fact of the matter is her new single, ‘Vulnerable’, with Travi$ Scott comes at a time when you should really sit up and take notice.
‘Vulnerable’ relays Tinashe’s tender and sultry voice over a crawling production of murky, late night creep-hop beats, which makes for a captivating combination.
The single is pure seduction, and with an additional verse from Scott – who pays homage to Kanye West by referencing ‘I’m In It’ in his verse – you can’t help but turn the volume up on this one.
With a sound that portrays hints of Aaliyah, Cassie and Rihanna, Tinashe is set for a future that is only looking up in the new year and beyond.
‘Vulnerable’ is from her recently released mixtape, “Black Water”, which is definitely something to add to the collection if you haven’t already. In fact, I’m going to do you all a favour and include her mixtape below. Listen to it. And I mean, really listen to it. I am sure that you will end up loving it just as much as I do. Added bonus: It’s free to download. 🙂
