Lorde: Everybody Wants To Rule The World

I honestly don't know anyone right now who doesn't love 16-year-old Ella Yelich-O'Connor aka Lorde. The New Zealand teenager has revealed a slower and darker cover of 80s classic 'Everybody Wants to Rule The World', which is to be featured on the soundtrack of the new Hunger Games movie, but in my opinion, should really be the leading (theme) song.

Lorde - Everybody Wants To Rule The World

Lorde is definitely making a name for herself around the world. ‘Royals’ is still one of the biggest songs released this year, and my workmates pretty much all sing along to it when I play it at work on my new UE BOOM (Excuse the plug. #hadto).

“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” doesn’t hit theaters until November 22, but anyone who wants to take an early trip to Panem can listen to this chilling cover of Tears For Fears’ ‘Everybody Wants to Rule the World’, which was recorded for the upcoming blockbuster’s soundtrack by New Zealand pop sensation Lorde.

Lorde draws you in from the very beginning with her haunting voice and gives the 1985 original a grim, icy, and moody twist.

As with everything Lorde has released and done thus far (including seeing her perform live at The Metro in Sydney a few weeks ago), this song has my stamp of approval.

Keep it comin’ Miss Lorde.
