The Roots have recently announced two headline Australian shows for the end of the year! Woot woot!! This could possibly be THE concert of the year. Yep, I said it.
The legendary hip hop crew will be in the country at the end of the year headlining The Falls Festival (a festival I potentially could have gone to but that’s another story) amongst a fantastic line-up of artists and bands including Solange, Grizzly Bear, Chet Faker, The Wombats, Vampire Weekend, and Neil Finn.
I have been waiting for news of sideshows for the house band of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” since it was announced that they would be coming down under for Falls and luckily for us residing in Sydney and Melbourne, we’ll be able to go. Yes.
Last year when I was travelling through the US, a friend and I managed to score some free tickets to the Late Night show and we caught a few minutes of The almighty Roots performing different songs for the show.
On top of that, we had tickets to see them play live in the same week but they cancelled and we ended up seeing ?uestlove and Talik Kweli deejaying instead. Not a major loss, but, that’s another story too. Too many adventures in New York last year has me reminiscing right now and going off track…
But enough of my rambling. I am confident that these two headlining sideshows from The Roots will not only be different from one another (in terms of setlists), but it will also be an experience of live entertainment that any great music lover will enjoy.
Proof? Listen to one of my favourite songs from them below and just imagine this song performed live. Ooh Yeah!
