Last week, Sydney’s Goodgod small club was transformed into a smorgasbord of everything blue for an Australian-first exclusive event.
The mood lighting, decorations, installations, and cocktails were all in different shades of blue!
Entering via a blue carpet, we were greeted with intriguing blue ABSOLUT cocktails with matching straws and some sort of blue pearls inside? I didn’t dare try one so I left it and assumed it was just decoration…
“Once inside guests enjoyed a selection of bespoke cocktails aptly titled ABSOLUT Blue Bottle Kiss, V Cobalt Vein and ABSOLUT Blue Rinse Brigade…while indulging in offerings from the venue’s diner The Dip, which included Mini Watermelon Burgers and Blue Ice Cream Sandwiches.”
With free drinks until 9pm, the bar was impossible to get to but we had to take advantage and celebrated the debut of the new limited edition vodka. Delish! My friend tasted liquorice (which I am not the biggest fan of – who is, really?), but what I tasted was something sweeter and a flavour that I wouldn’t mind going back to.
My friends and I had already had dinner prior to the event but now, I wish I had saved some room for those blue ice-cream sandwiches. Damn, sounds like a classic case of FOMO haha!
“The Blue Room saw influential artists showcase originality in all forms: Sampology (VJ), Dion Hortsman (Sculpture) Emma Mulholland (Fashion) and Jimmy McGilchrist (Digital Art Pioneer) each collaborated with a select number of consumers to create the ultimate p‘ART’y experience for the unveiling of ABSOLUT Vodka’s newest limited edition bottle for 2013, ABSOLUT Originality.”
With a party as big as this, you’re sure to see some famous faces floating around and I spotted the likes of Sarah De Bono (The Voice), Amber Renae (Project Runway), and actress/model Caitlyn Paterson joining the likes of the fashion and art industry to experience a night to remember (or a night filled with fuzzy memories due to all the ABSOLUT cocktails we were consuming)!
Towards the end of the night, special guest and one of the creatives on the campaign, DJ Sampology, played an exclusive set for partygoers and guests which was not only a unique musical experience but one that was played against matching creative and edgy visuals to the beats and sounds played. His set fittingly honoured the blue theme of the night and its inspiration, the ABSOLUT Originality bottle.
I didn’t get to stay for his entire set but I did see plenty of heads bopping, some synchronised dancing, a few weird poses and lots of smiling faces.
Until next time, ABSOLUT. Cheers.
