Converse Inc. have recently announced an all-new collection with avant-garde French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela. That’s right.
The first-time Converse x Maison Martin Margiela collaboration features the Chuck Taylor All Star and the Jack Purcell sneakers, with each sneaker completely hand-painted in Maison Martin Margiela’s iconic white paint. Covering every little inch of the shoe including all canvas, eyelets, laces and soles, they naturally crack and shed their outer coat of paint to reveal the original colours beneath.
“The personality of the Converse x Maison Martin Margiela 1970s Chuck Taylor All Star and Jack Purcell sneakers is discovered through an evolving dialogue between the bold coloured canvas and clean paint. The more the sneakers are worn, the more their personality and colour is revealed.”
The styles are available in three colour ways based on heritage colours from the Converse archives: red, black, navy and are lined in premium off-white leather. Hmm…
This is an ultra-cool collab with an equally awesome concept behind it. I’m intrigued as to how many wears it’ll take out of the sneaker in order for some colour to be revealed.
The Converse x Maison Martin Margiela sneakers will be available for purchase globally in September at Margiela stores, and in Australia from September 21. Mark it in your diaries! And check out this great little ad for the collab!
