Arctic Monkeys: Hold On, We’re Going Home

The Arctic Monkeys have been experimenting with their sound lately and they’ve not showing any signs of slowing down, choosing to surprise us all with a cover of Canadian rapper Drake‘s emotional hit 'Hold On, We’re Going Home' for their recent BBC Live Lounge session. Watch it now.

Arctic Monkeys - Hold On, We're Going Home

Well, this was certainly unexpected.

UK rockers Arctic Monkeys (who currently have a rocking album out in the form of “AM”) have decided to cover a Drake song when they recently appeared on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

The English quartet took on Drake’s newest single, ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ and they stay pretty faithful to the original, yet they’re also able to make the song sound like it was an extra track for their latest album.

There’s been a lot of talk out there about why Drake divides the world when listening to his music. You either love him or you hate him. I’ll admit, I didn’t like him when I first heard his debut ‘Best I’ve Ever Had’, but other than that track, I don’t mind him or his music.

On the other hand, the Arctic Monkeys‘ version of his hit single is pretty damn good. I’m still surprised at the song choice but the layered background vocals, bubbly basslines and the distorted guitars gives the original a slightly different and refreshing sound.
