It seems like the big thing in the music world right now for new artists/DJs/producers to get noticed is to take a tune from the past and re-interpret it to give the song a fresh new spin.
And that’s exactly what Britain’s Bondax has done with a remix of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity‘. The original tune, featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen, transcended every 90s dance floor, and is most certainly one of my top 5 favourite tunes from the 90s RnB era.
The teenage duo, comprised of George Townsend and Adam Kaye, are from a small town of 1,000 people just outside Lancaster in the rural English countryside. Though their beginnings may be humble, their sound is anything but. The remix is a little faster than the original with a prominent funky bass line and a splash of samples.
With its sped up tempo and added piano based instrumentals, the young English producers have taken one of the greatest songs of all time and has managed to create something that sounds pretty damn good. Certainly not an easy feat on a song that’s been recreated many times!
