It’s the last episode of the H∆SHTAG$ web-series and honestly, I’m kind of glad. The first few were interesting to watch but the last couple were just not fun to watch – at all. It made it hard to write if you want me to be completely honest, and it seemed like for the last couple of episodes, the Red Bull Music Academy were just making up genres. Made-up genres that sounded cool or would catch someone’s attention. Well, it certainly caught some attention – but maybe for the wrong reasons.
Anyhow, here’s the last episode of the H∆SHTAG$ online documentaries for you all to view.
“For the sixth and final episode of H∆SHTAG$ – our web series chronicling Internet-based music – we explore the idea of blog pop. The web has given the opportunity for producers to make more adventurous music than ever before, while levelling the industry’s playing field for a whole new generation of unlikely pop stars. No longer the domain of multi-million dollar conglomerates, pop music has come to the bedroom and seen artists as varied as AlunaGeorge, Charli XCX and Teengirl Fantasy rise to prominence in short amounts of time. So what will happen to the old concept of pop in the digital era?”
