Most of you might be surprised to know this, but I’m actually a big fan of foreign music – particularly French and Italian.
Pop-artist Yelle is one of my favourites and this week, she released a new single, ‘L’Amour Parfait’, which translates to ‘perfect love’. That’s your cue for an ‘Aww’ moment.
Although I have no idea how to speak French (or Italian for that matter), when I hear a song in either of those languages, I am somehow taken away. I love the mystery it creates, not knowing what they’re actually singing about or what it all really means. And to be honest, hearing these songs doesn’t necessarily make me want to “google” their translation either. Sometimes a mystery should remain a mystery..
“I don’t know what you mean, but it means a lot to me.”
It’s been a while since she released something new, so I’m glad to hear that Yelle hasn’t lost that poppy flair I know and love when I first heard her music, but in saying that, you can still hear elements of edgy synths and chopped and screwed vocals with ‘L’Amour Parfait’ backdrop.
An electro-pop song with a dark twist! I love it.
Yelle’s upcoming “The L’Amour Parfait EP” will drop on February 11th via Kitsuné.
