Ta-ku is a genius. A musical genius, that is.
And he’s one of the most inspiring individuals I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know.
What better way to end this tribute series than with the perfect track. It somehow ties the whole record together, summarising the vibe of all 25 Nights.
‘Night 25’ brings a crossover of influences between Nujabes and J-Dilla (who coincidentally were both born on the same day – February 7th). And a beautiful crossover at that. Laced with piano and drum beats, this is truly an elegantly enticing tune to end with.
“A beat a night for 25 nights in dedication to Seba Jun.
Night 25. Can’t believe its finally over. :'(
Did a little Dilla/Nujabes crossover for this one.
Enjoy.” – Ta-ku
Listening to all 25 Nights one by one (which you can do in the set below), it’s clear that this project was one [that] Ta-ku created with a lot of heart and soul. Overall, this is the general feeling I received when I heard the Nights: When someone lets down their walls, lets you in and bares their soul… This is how it went with all 25 Nights. As each Night passed, his walls started to crumble and he slowly let us into his world, creating these beautiful pieces for us all to listen to.
Evoking emotions is what the Perth creative does best, and he definitely pulled at my heartstrings with more than a handful of the Nights he created for this project.
It’s amazing to me how music can make you feel emotions you never knew existed. Ta-ku definitely achieved that with the 25 pieces he produced. I’m currently listening to all 25 Nights again (I just can’t get enough!) as I write this, and strangely, I feel comforted.
