This is one tour I’m very much looking forward to in 2013!
Another favourite record of mine for 2012 was Oddisee’s “People Hear What They See”, and you may remember me posting his track ‘You Know Who You Are (Acoustic)‘, featuring Olivier Daysoul, a few months back. Still one of my favourite tunes.
This week, Grindin’ announced that the man himself will be bringing Daysoul for an exclusive Australian/New Zealand tour in March! Yes!
“Known in the music industry for his independence, Oddisee consistently debunks the scatterbrained artist myth – doing everything from booking international tours to photography to marketing and promoting himself and even other artists. He now works as both artist and consultant with Mello Music Group, one of the foremost emerging independent labels to take advantage of the digital revolution to build a successful business.
“Oddisee’s debut album “People Hear What They See” is a culmination of the duality of his life experiences, from DC internal politics to third world struggles, the line between love and selfishness, and the personal conflict between self-sabotage and progress, set to a backdrop of intricate drums, lush instrumentation, and soul-stirring harmonies. It has received critical acclaim and is in most best albums of 2012 lists.
“Joining Oddisee on this tour is Olivier Daysoul who featured as a vocalist and guitarist throughout “People Hear What They See”.”
The duo hit Sydney on March 9 and although I already have a few other events already marked in my diary for that particular date, I may have to skip one or two to see these two perform! This is going to be one amazing show. I am predicting it. Yessir.
The rest of the bill (for the Sydney show) is pretty impressive too with support acts Jones JNR, Katalyst, Suff Daddy (Beat showcase), Myele Manzanza (Electric Wire Hustle), Huwston & JC (Funkdafied). Damn. But I kinda wish I was heading to the Melbourne show, because my boys Condensed Milk are the main support. So happy for the CDMK Collective. 🙂
I’m definitely going to be attending this show, and I recommend you do the same. Otherwise, you will be sitting at home regretting the fact that you didn’t purchase a ticket. Speaking of which, you can head over to moshtix now to purchase your ticket(s)!.
In the meantime, check out what you could be witnessing in less than a month’s time…
