“Let them eat art!
Let them eat music!
Let them eat fun!
Let Them Eat Cake.”
What are your plans for the first day of the new year?
“Let Them Eat Cake is a New Years Day offering catering for the discerning patron, a boutique electronic music festival.”
Held in Melbourne’s Werribee Park, this is one festival that all Melbourne residents should attend. Doesn’t matter if you think you don’t like electronic music. The energy, the vibe from the environment and the city itself will be enough. Trust me.
Besides being the perfect way to kick off 2013, the festival also offers delicious food, art installations and live performers.
I was actually invited to attend this festival by a good friend of mine but seeing as though I’ll probably be only there for just over 12 hours or so, something tells me the cost of flights, accommodation and the festival ticket is not completely worth it, even if it is in my favourite Australian city and one of my favourite music producers is headlining.
The rest of the line-up is pretty impressive too. Head over to the website to see the complete list, which includes The Gaslamp Killer, Theo Parrish, Coki, Slow Magic, Pariah, and Melbourne local cats Amin PaYnE and Silent Jay.
Damn. Just.. damn. 🙁
Having met the headline act a few months ago at a signing in New York City, this really would have been the perfect way to kick off my 2013 but unfortunately, I’m choosing to be practical and save my money this time ’round.
Besides, I’m pretty sure he’ll be back to our shores soon, and he’ll do a show in Sydney too. Wishful thinking? Maybe. Either way, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
In the meantime, for those of you who are in Melbourne and already have managed to grab a ticket, other than the fact that I’m very jealous of you, be prepared and expect to experience this at the show from FlyLo. Oh, have a few drinks for me too! 😐
