Two nights before I boarded my flight to the beginning of my 6-week adventure, I was invited to the KOOKAÏ Fashion Runway Show at the Sydney Opera House, celebrating the fashion brand’s 20th anniversary! Attending with my best friend as my +1, we arrived just before the runway was about to start at 7pm, quickly taking our seats in the lower balcony, sitting behind the editor of Cleo [magazine], Gemma Crisp!
Luckily for us, the show was running a little late and waiting for us on each seat within the Northern Foyer of the Concert Hall was a KOOKAÏ goodie bag (filled with a look book of their new collection, sponsored material and a little accessory, a different one for each seat.
The event showcased a 50m long, split-level runway decorated with floral arrangements and whilst we sat in the lower balcony with the rest of the bloggers and fashion/lifestyle publications, the top balcony saw a host of celebrities and A-listers including Amber Renae, Carmen Smith, Kate Waterhouse, Nikki Phillips, Laura Dundovic, Lizzy Lovette, Maude Garrett, Trent Maxwell, and from TV’s “The Voice”, Sarah DeBono.
“Australian supermodel Nicole Trunfio returned from New York specifically to open the show, which previewed Arabesque, Kookai’s bold Moroccan inspired SS 2012/13 collection.
“280 celebrity, media and VIP guests joined in KOOKAÏ’s 20 year festivities in the distinctly Australian setting of the Opera House’s Northern Foyer, complete with Laurent-Perrier champagne and a Moroccan influenced canapé menu designed by Aria chef Matt Moran.
“Trunfio was joined by fellow brand ambassador Ilona Novacek, the star of four Kookai campaigns. Both girls flew to Morocco earlier this year to star in the campaign shoot for the Arabesque collection.”
The fashion show was basically seeing the entire Spring/Summer Collection in the flesh on the models, and what a sight that was! I was loving the styling of the outfits with the shoes and accessories but my favourites included the brightly coloured pants and dresses – maxi, mid, and mini! All three hemlines worked in my opinion and I cannot wait to see these pieces in all of KOOKAÏ’s stores around the country!
The weather in Sydney is currently getting warmer, but with these pieces in your wardrobe, your Spring and Summer seasons will no doubt be even HOTTER.
