Artist Spotlight: Vincent van Dominogh

Ever wondered what Vincent Van Gogh's iconic 'Starry Night' would look like when it's been recreated through thousands of dominoes? No? Well a curious cat by the name of Flippycat did. Check out the result (as well as the numerous trial and errors along the way).

Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ is honestly one of my favourite artworks of all time. I remember I had to re-create it once in collage form for one of my high-school art projects and scored 100% for it! đŸ™‚ True story. Don’t know why I didn’t ever choose to pursue art back in the day. Oh well.

Here’s a different recreation of the artwork by FlippyCat (whoever he is) through the use of just over 7,000 dominos.

We’ve all played with dominoes as kids. I loved it. My latest interaction with dominoes has been introducing my nephew to the game. Not exactly playing the game, but building it and knocking them down and watching until the last domino has fallen. His reaction is priceless – every time. Kids. So curious.

Obviously, this guy was curious too. Watch as you see all the trial and errors he goes through to making it perfect. The second attempt took about 11 hours total to build. This is crazy. This guy has way too much time on his hands.

Watch it until the end. The side view makes it look so good!
