Product Review: Crumpler Gypsy Moth Tote Bag

Never have I received so much love for a bag before - from both friends and co-workers. And honestly, I don't blame them. I loved it the first time I laid eyes on it. Check out my review of Crumpler's Gypsy Moth Tote Bag.

Received some product love in the mail a couple weeks ago. The good people at Crumpler in Melbourne sent me a new bag to test out and review and it was pretty hard for me to contain my excitement! In an email sent prior, I wasn’t told what I would be receiving, just a request for my postal address. Loved the mystery.

I cannot tell you how elated I was to find out that it was a tote bag that would fit my 13″ Mac Book. If you’ve read my past post, you’ll know that I’ve been in the market for a laptop bag for a while, but there were so many factors that needed to be fulfilled before I could reach for my wallet and make that final purchase or hit the ‘checkout’ button.

The Gypsy Moth Tote Bag is what I received from the Crumpler crew with a personalised note. Seriously, things are so much better received when what you receive has been personalised! So good.

“Designed to look the goods as well as carry them, the dress-up-dress-down Gypsy Moth Tote is the one bag that fits all situations solution your belongings have been longing for. Tote-ally schmick, tote-ally chic and tote-ally accommodating, its cleverly concealed 11-litre capacity includes a handy external pocket for your valuables and a padded sleeve for your 13-inch lappy, all protected by an indestructible combo of waxed canvas outer and military strength waterproof base.”

Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised when I received the tote bag, and upon my first glance of it, I loved the colourway of the blacks and greys. But when I really looked into it, what I loved even more was that hit of bright blue when I unzipped the bag to look at the finer details of the bag’s interior. Wow.

Seriously, I love that the blue was a hidden element of the design. And speaking of the design, yes, it was nice but was it a practical product? The answer to that question is yes. I tested the bag in wet weather conditions as well as sunny days and the bag with-held its end of the bargain. With features including 5 storage zones, a waterproof base and strong twill-weave carry handles, the bag managed to keep its sturdy shape no matter how many things I tried to throw in there.

Funnily thing is, this is primarily a tech-bag but I’ve officially turned it into my work bag and with compliments received from friends and co-workers alike, I know that it’s a bag that will last a lifetime. Seriously though, the Gypsy Moth tote bag is constructed with “waxed canvas and other ultra durable materials, which reinforces the joining and/or stitching on all stress points. That’s why it carries Crumpler’s famous lifetime guarantee.” đŸ™‚
